Joey and Bela

The Chef’s Cellar was born when Joey and Bela decided to dive into a life together. Bela was a food blogger in London, obsessed with trying every new restaurant, food trend and pop-up that she could come across and writing reviews for timeout magazine. Joey was working as a private chef in France, spending winter in the mountains and summer working in the wine regions of France, working in unison with local sommeliers to pair his dishes with wines that would come back from the producers daily. They met at the wedding of Joey’s cousin, sparks flew and before they new it they were packing in their respective lives to launch their wine distribution, based in Morzine, Haute Savoie France.

Chef’s Cellar is where wine and food meet, Joe’s passion as a chef lead him to France, where he soon discovered that the only thing better than a fantastic meal was a fantastic meal paired with the right wine. Bela had tried all the restaurants in London, but once she sampled French food and French wine and the purity of good food paired with the right wine, there was no turning back. The ‘connaissance’ of the ‘terroir’ and the humble way in which a French family would instinctively pair their meals with the wines of their region is somewhat a fairytale that brings with it an authenticity that surpasses even the most refined restaurant experience. This was the essence that captured the imagination of both Joey and Bela, that this should be shared with as many people as possible.
Every wine on our list has been carefully selected and matched with the meal or event that it works best with, because that is how we enjoy wine. There are wines to be enjoyed on their own, and others that offer such complexity that they simply must be allowed to express themselves alongside the right dishes, we have done our best to make that as simple as possible to discover for anyone that comes by our selection.
